We packed our bags, checked out and drove 3 hours home. I called the front desk and was told that a smaller room had opened up on the 4th floor. When we returned to our room and turned down the bed's comforter we were shocked to see it splattered with nasty stains. However, after some discussion, the waiter agreed to make the trip to get the draft beer. When I told him the hotel's Marsh Tavern (about a 10 second walk) had draft beer, he told me they like to keep this bar separate from the Marsh Tavern and this bar only has bottled beer. The waiter said they only had bottled beer. We went to the courtyard porch area for a cold drink where I ordered a draft beer. Upon inspection, amazingly this room had no windows, only two skylights in the ceiling this was obviously unacceptable. We were told there was a superior room on the 4th floor that we could move to. The room was nice, but there was a large red stain on the bed skirt. Upon arrival we expected the deluxe room to be facing the Equinox mountain, but were told the only room available faced the courtyard. My wife and I have stayed their many times and have enjoyed the experience. The Equinox Golf Resort and Spa is a classic 200 year old New England resort hotel in beautiful Manchester VT. Overall, not the quality that we expected from the Equinox. We didn't stay long as there were many flies flying around. The grounds are beautiful and we did enjoy a drink in one of the bars. She was lovely, but since our room had been purchased via Living Social she was not able to offer us a refund. (Think Super 8, La Quinta etc.) We spoke with the manager on checkout. The quality of this room could be compared to a down on your luck low range hotel. Townhouses are typically larger with kitchen facilities and more space. The name townhouses is inherently misleading. When we purchased the voucher there was no indication of whether our room would be located in the main building or not. We had purchased a Living Social voucher for the stay. The patio consisted of two old outdoor chairs located next to the AC unit. (We called at 11 pm, midnight and 1 am.) Since had a ground floor room, we couldn't open the windows and didn't want to sleep with the door to our "patio" open. The air conditioning didn't work and our calls to the front desk for repair went unanswered multiple times. We heard both our upstairs and downstairs neighbors before 6 am. During our last visit, we were placed in the "townhouses." The rooms are outdated and in need of updates. The other two times we had rooms in the main building and truly enjoyed our stay. This was the third time we have stayed at the Equinox.
